I'm running a fairly recent snapshot. The problem below does not occur on 4.4.
When using programs like ogle and dvdcpy, scrambled DVDs don't open and unscrambled DVDs cause the machine to freeze. After rebooting I checked the file ~/.libdvd/challenge and it was binary. It used to read "OpenBSD". So, I thought that the problem is related to libdvd. I chose debugcss FLAVOR of libdvdread and tried libdvdcss. There was no improvement. I hope this report will be of use.
