I added ~20 .mp3 and .wav files from the same directory at the same time,
and it worked on an amd64.  also added a mix of 10 different media types
at the same time, including .pls and .m3u files, and that worked fine as
well.  I don't have a directory with 13 000 music files, nor a local
fat32 fs to try to reproduce your problem exactly.

why are you using the i386 mp kernel on an amd64 up system?

might want to see if you disk is going bad as well ...
