sorry folks for some reason I only ran sysupgrade on my fastnet mon box tonight ( from 7.7 to 7.8) so only seeing this thread now (that I searched for fasnetmon on the ports list
I think fastnetmon is an amazing piece of software although running it on OpenBSD does require a re-animation script to check if it is still running and restart the service... I can try to "help" maintain the port I have messaged Pavel Otinsov the author of fastnetmon to see if we can work on it ... I dont know how much use I can be ... but Ill try to get it working ... I have very little experience with boost libraries and would appreciate a steer from someone ... ill report back to the list what feedback I get... fortunately the obsolete package seems to "work" some what an upgraded system running it on 7.9 I had discussions with Stuart at a hackathon so I know that updating this package will be a challenge... any tips advice and previous incomplete work welcome all the best, Tom On Mon, 21 Apr 2025 at 08:45, Landry Breuil <[email protected]> wrote: > hi, > > those two ports are outdated, and in the way of an upcoming boost update > which is already grueling work. > > graphics/orthanc was last updated in 2022, and it was its first update > since its import in 2017. > > net/fastnetmon needs an update to 1.2.x branch (that's what freebsd uses > with boost 1.87) but upstream changed its policy and really wants to use > a bunch of bundled common libraries instead of using systemwide > versions, which is somewhat against our portstree policy. > > so unless somebody steps up to maintain those ports, ensure they build > with recent boost, and that they actually work, my vote is to cvs rm > them so that they're not in the way of the boost update. > > any takers ? > > Landry > > -- Kindest regards, Tom Smyth.
