I've imported this. I added one patch, which runs shards --verbose
--no-color which is typically the sort of build output we prefer.
It would be nice if we could get that without patching, by setting
MAKE_FLAGS="NO_COLOR=1 VERBOSE=1" which gets translated by the source
makefile to the corresponding options, or something like that.
