I'd prefer to use the ports libzstd, hopefully that will also increase
the chances of pkg_add -u updating what's needed when libc/libpthread
are bumped:

WANTLIB =               zstd

LIB_DEPENDS =           archivers/zstd
CFLAGS +=               -I${LOCALBASE}/include
MAKE_ENV =              ZSTD_EXTERNAL=true
