Hi all. I looked through the mailing list archives for eccodes and grib and
found only a few hits on the latter related to some testing in gdal.
Eccodes is a library that handles grib data and is actively maintained by
the European weather center, and is distributed open source.

It would make a nice complement to the existing scientific libraries such
as netcdf, hdf5, etc.. It can be built and installed as a python pip module
easily enough, but I'm a C++ developer and that one isnt quite as
straightforward. It's not a horrible build, but it requires a bit of
creativity. I'd be happy to build / maintain the port for this if no one
knows a reason why not. With OpenBSDs secure, streamlined architecture,
and with this good weather data support, we can make some inroads into that
community I bet.
