Something similar happened to me, a couple of months ago I sent a
couple of commits to fix a bug and upstream they beat that code
mercilessly.

Was I upset about it? No, I understood that the developer only wanted
the code to work well at all times, and not cause any more problems
than the solution I was trying to provide.

In the end, the developer decided to go in another direction (an
alternative that I had also mentioned) and it was decided to rewrite
everything with a new library that simplified support for other
platforms and fixed the initial problem, something to help with code
and testing.

But now it seems that people giving you negative feedback is
undesirable, and for the mere fact of doing it, they attack you and
believe that you are sabotaging them. Sad.
