I'm currently running a patch that converts the last few ports with MASTER_SITES0...9 to the new style of SITES.sufx.
Accordingly, once the bulk finishes (succesfully) I will also remove the support in bsd.port.mk. In the meantime, if you commit stuff that reintroduces MASTER_SITES0..9, well, it will break.
