While I agree that it should eventually be documented, I think it is not too much to ask from a dev to look through the last few days of commits (where there is a very detailed commit message in 2e8b030b). It was only added to the tree on Monday and might still change as it is applied to the tree. Asking for docs at such an early stage of the process seems premature.
