Any port which uses CONFIGURE_STYLE=autoconf or autoreconf, or MODPERL_REGEN_PPPORT=Yes. Normally you wouldn't run "make gen" yourself unless you're wanting to examine the results before running configure; the target is called auomatically when needed.
