This ^ is the actual error, not the nonexistent homedir. There has been a 
change in recent rust and libc things, see the immutable userland mappings 
thread. I suggest moving to the newest snapshot and adding the latest packages, 
they seem to be working fine for me, but this is more of a rust issue.
