POP3 involves downloading messages whereas IMAP involves leaving it on
the server. Are your clients downloading the entire message(s) or
just the headers? Is this a new problem or did you just install

when doing POP3 i'm pretty certain the messages are downloaded, as per
the protocol.
this is a problem that has cropped up several times during the past 6
months i've had this mailserver running. everything else works fine with
dovecot and it's used by ~60 office employees at a company i work for.
