Hi,

Depending on fonts/tex-fonts and devel/web this is TEX, a document
compiler intended to produce typesetting of high quality.

The TeX contained in this package is referred to as Plain TeX, or TEX82,
and does not include xetex, latex, luatex, pdftex, etex, eptex, euptex,
\usepackage{}, \documentclass{}, etc, but it is still very capable.
Capable enough to create books like the TeXbook and MFbook, for example.

Because this package contains a full working Plain TeX system it is also
capable of creating all of its own literate programming documentation.
If there are any questions about the various programs introduced so far,
you can read about them in infinite detail at
/usr/local/share/doc/tex/*.dvi.

The port contains more change files that let the generated Pascal
source files compile with Free Pascal. All of the change files included
so far are not my own, the copyright and license has been included.

That said, I am not happy with all of the changes in the change files
and think they go too far. I have already modified many of them, but
they can be slimmed down even further. For example the 'invoking' of
a text editor on errors in tex and metafont, IMHO, needs to go.
