Martian, I too use Nvidia Graphics cards in almost every one of my OpenBSD systems, if there is in fact a vendor that supports 3D acceleration I would actually buy a few of those cards.
Just a thought do you know if someone ever thought about converting the FreeBSD Nvidia Driver to OpenBSD and put it in the ports tree? I believe NetBSD has done this so I belive it is possible to do. I am fully aware of the binary blob stance that OpenBSD has. (And I very much agree with it) and for this reason alone may be why no one has intrest in converting it,also there may be technical issues that stand in the way. But since I only learned about OpenBSD 3 months ago, I am still a little unclear on weather the Binary Blob stance applies to the ports tree. the way I understand it is OpenBSD does not want to redistribute Binary Blobs in any way and they will not ship them with the base system. but at least to me it is unclear weather the OpenBSD Community would object to having a port of the FreeBSD Nvidia Driver in the ports Tree (assuming someone was in fact able to convert it). Hi! I have just compiled stellarium (http://www.stellarium.org/) on 3.9. Because I can not find a port of stellarium for OpenBSD, is there anyone working on a port for stellarium? If there is nobody, I can write a port. By the way, stellarium uses OpenGL. I use a Nvida Geforce graphics card which has no hardware acceleration on OpenBSD, so stellarium is very slow. Is there a graphics card which has OpenGL hardware acceleration on OpenBSD? Regards, Martin -- PGP Key: http://www.stud.uni-hamburg.de/~kulas/mkulas_pubkey.asc
