Thats clear, but the OpenBSD Makefiles are parsed before their content is handed over to make. I realize that for the few times a hashsign is needed, escaping it is not an issue. On the other hand I suspected the scripts only consider a ^# as a comment. I didn't have a look at the code though. /M
