There was a problem using UMAX ASTRA 1220U scanner with uscanner driver:

Then scanner appeared as:

# sane-find-scanner

found USB scanner (vendor=0x1606, product=0x0010) at libusb:/dev/usb0:/dev/ugen0
[..]

# scanimage -L                                                                  
                
device `umax1220u:libusb:/dev/usb0:/dev/ugen0' is a UMAX Astra 1220U flatbed 
scanner

# scanimage -x 200 -y 100 > /tmp/bu.tiff

Scans fine!!!
