I don't normally use mp3blaster but I decided to take a look. On my 850 Mhz i386 laptop, it uses 35% cpu for mp3, which sucks, but it uses only 2% cpu for ogg. It would seem to me that it just has a crummy mp3 decoder. Feel free to fix and submit patches :)
