Hi. I've opened review D52178 at Aug.27 with the hope that nvidia driver related kmods to be provided by FreeBSD-kmods (for stable/15 and main, FreeBSD-ports-kmods) repo.
https://reviews.freebsd.org/D52178 The patch here splits out kmod part of x11/nvidia-driver[-304|-340|-390|-470|-devel] ports into x11/nvidia-kmod[-304|-340|-390|-470|-devel], keeping remaining parts intact and fixed up consumer ports for it. Is the patch (rebased for 580.82.07 at Sep.3) under test? Or if not, any chance to be tested? It would be nice if it lands prior to next quarterly branches. Note that on first update with this patch, x11/nvidia-driver[-304|-340|-390|-470|-devel] needs to be deinstalled, as existing installation already have kmods and conflicts on installation of corresponding x11/nvidia-kmod[-304|-340|-390|-470|-devel]. UPDATING part is at Bug 288314. https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=288314 I'm pending updates for 580.82.09, as this review would be far more important for many of pkg users and updating to 580.82.09 is trivial. I'll proceed for it once review D52178 works as intended on kmod pkg builder and lands or rejected as not work for the builder. (Or seemingly more important version become available upstream).
