Any way to get it back?

The command is still there. What is gone, is doing squid_configtest
in prestart as a workaround to squid PR:

https://bugs.squid-cache.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5390

Sorry, but I don't get it fully.

The command doesn't seem to be there:

# service squid reload
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/squid: unknown directive 'reload'.
Usage: /usr/local/etc/rc.d/squid
[fast|force|one|quiet](start|stop|restart|rcvar|enable|disable|delete|enabled|describe|extracommands|status|poll)

Looking into rc.d script changes, it was in fact commented as "a workaround" for the bug you mentioned.

So, are you saying the only "doing squid_configtest" should be gone and "reload" was an oversight?

Can I just try to uncomment it or are there dragons waiting?

Can I help in any way to bring this back?

 bye & Thanks
