Yes, I saw that and already tried it. Unfortunately, it doesn't work -

I'm confused. If you want to start Plasma from SDDM then you shouldn't
be using the xinit session. Use the Plasma (X11) session instead. If
you don't have it in the sessions dropbox, it means you're missing
some Plasma packages.

Yes, that was the problem - pkg upgrade hadn't done a very good job. I
ran "pkg install kde" and it's all working now.
