Probably the number 1 thing is to use real DNS servers not opendns or some other advertising research DNS server that collects all of the names of places you want to go to and packages it up for sale to the highest bidder under the guise of "protecting you"
I cannot believe that people who have lived an entire life are this gullible. Hasn't anyone ever explained that when someone shows up telling you they will "save" you, that all they are after is your money? Over and over and over I hear Christian fundamentalist preachers saying this. Opendns and friends are nothing more than the electronic incarnation of the "nanny state" all over again and they make people lose their minds and all common sense when they start in with "we filter all the bad guys out of our DNS results" garbage. I'm not saying you personally have fallen for this since I don't know what DNS providers you use, but I'm pretty darn positive something like this is behind your problem.
