Ether of the two for $22 or $32 look like they meet your needs.
Walmart has a couple of small ones on clearance; they may be available from
the web only.
All available units are focused on music but will certainly work for spoken
words, too.

Perhaps I am just too stuck in my ways. I've gotten in habit of ignoring
Amazon as primarily a noise source. I'll take a look.
