[PLUG] Free USENET servers?

I have been using news.eternal-september.org for a long time with 
generally good results.

Today there was a post with a blank body. I sent a private email to the 
OP about the problem.

An hour later there were two replies quoting portions of the "blank" 
message.

How do I trouble shoot this?
Is there a recommended free server I could use as backup?

My system is Debian 12.8 with MATE and SeaMonkey 2.53.19 .
