Paul,

   It's old, but not used.

   The motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth 990FX, bought December 2011. Not
sure if that qualfies as 'older' but I suspect it will boot off the SSD and
use the HDD for variable data since this configuration was recommended to me
way back then.
