At least on my system (F22), there are three: $ ls -dl /etc/DIR_COLORS* -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 5081 Sep 16 12:01 /etc/DIR_COLORS -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 5697 Sep 16 12:01 /etc/DIR_COLORS.256color -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 5102 Sep 16 12:01 /etc/DIR_COLORS.lightbgcolor Just to confuse the issue, I have a file ~/.dir_colors where I make my own modifications to the standard files in /etc. You might check to see if you have one of those installed. Hope this helps. --Dale -- Imagine if every Thursday your shoes exploded if you tied them the usual way. This happens to us all the time with computers, and nobody thinks of complaining. -- Jeff Raskin
