<my2cents>
If I may be so bold.. I only joined this list 3 days ago but am already
amazed at the politicking going on...

If a company is going to use a program to develop OS's and the like.. and
they are *commercial* entities that would require plex86 not be under the
GPL so that they could write their plugins.. my opinion is that if they are
charging for their product, they should be paying for the product... and
based on that, I'd say send 'em over to VMWare. Let VMWare charge them, and
let them charge the developers.

However if an entity (such as the Linux developers, or the HURD developers)
want to use something that is free and open source.. then let them use
plex86! And *they* should not have a problem writing modules that are
linked to an LGPL'd program. So again, my opinion (there that O word is
again..) is that if it comes to "some GPL'd code we can use or non-free
modules".. my vote is for GPL'd code. (Besides, has anyone bothered to
write the authors and just ask "Hey, can we use your code in this other
project...?)

The real bottom line is.. I joined this list because I wanted to see a free
alternative to VMWare so that I can do my work without having to shell out
more cash.. and my work is not developing OS's.. it's just simply
unrealistic, for me, to be 'just' windows or 'just' linux based. Yet it
also sure does suck to have to shell out 300 bucks of my own money (or even
my company's money) to be able to do my work. So let's all please stop
arguing and do something productive! (And yes, that does and will go for
me, too.)

And so as part of that.. I propose this question.. what EXACTLY is the
holdup right now? Getting a CVS server outside of the country? Finding
competent developers? Deciding on a viable license? Let's do this in an
organized way and get results, not a silly e-mail mini-flame war. If
something is so opinion related as a "this license vs. that license" war,
let's set a time and date, all meet in an IRC channel, talk about it, and
DECIDE.

Have a good night all, flames welcome only when masquerading as constructive
criticism.  :-)
