Of special note: We decided on doing another 5.14.x release to round up Folder View and Discover fixes, to aid Debian Stable which will ship 5.14.x. This will happen pending th completion of some Discover work for the branch.

kbroulik
========

- Merged new Color KCM \o/
- Desktop Theme KCM can now install from remote locations (via KIO)
- Dolphin now defaults to sort and group by date in Downloads folder
- Investigated why fonts:/ KCM doesn't show thumbnails, found cause, no real fix yet (WIP D18654) - Fixed unreadable tooltip text colors in GTK2 settings written by kde-gtk-settings
- Looked into icon support in ComboBox
-- difficult because of QIcon vs QQuickIcon
-- Fixed crash in Breeze style when you do that from QQC
- Minor optimizations in Plasma
Work todo:
- Follow-up patch for Color KCM to add search field and filter: D18646
- Now on Qt 5.12, working nicely so far, tooltip text size is glitched out but supposedly fixed in Qt 5.12.1 already
- Please review: D18487 D18700 D18701 D18718

======

In short: We need two patches, one which simply reverts a commit, and one which causes certain backends to be disabled after a timeout (which will render some things less functional on very slow connections, but will at least make Discover not entirely broken for those users) Right, will get that under way momentarily - i don't expect the second patch to be a huge amount of work, and of course the former is a revert (which incidentally has been tested by three users with the bug, who report it as worked-around with that commit reverted)

Cheers,
Eike

<romangg> Not sure how reliable the DB internet is, but I'm here.
<kbroulik> questions || next
<Sho_> oh, nice on the contrast fix
<Sho_> next up is bshah
<bshah> - PlaMo sprint starting from today
<bshah> - Worked on Qt 5.12 upto last week
<bshah> - Worked with d_ed yesterday on scaling fix for PlaM
<bshah> still work in progress ^^
<bshah> and FOSDEM :)
<bshah> questions?
<bshah> or next
<Sho_> romangg is next
<bshah> guess DB internet doesn't work :P
<romangg> Gonna merge this week Xwl DND (now for real, waited for latest frameworks release in light of KWayland patches).
<romangg> bshah: It does (but we stand still in the midddle of nowhere...)
<bshah> :D
<Sho_> heh
<romangg> Thinking of joining the PlaMo sprint. But would be only the last few days.
<romangg> Otherwise nothing else.
<Sho_> On to me then
<zzag> Hi, y'all
<Sho_> oh, timing
<Sho_> zzag: your turn!
<zzag> Okay, I don't have too much:
<zzag> * Splited out the Desktop Effects KCM
<zzag> * Did some code tidying in KWin
<Sho_> Split out for what purpose? :)
<zzag> * Rebased my window rules patches on David's changes
<zzag> Sho_: to keep things more nicer :-)
*** Joins: dhaumann (~d...@i59f77f8c.versanet.de)
*** Quits: dhaumann (~d...@i59f77f8c.versanet.de) (Changing host)
*** Joins: dhaumann (~dh@kde/dhaumann)
<Sho_> But like
<zzag> Also, I'd like to mention that in 5.15 video previews of effects do not work
<Sho_> split out of kwin.git?
<zzag> No, compositing kcm and desktop effects kcm are mixed together right now
<Sho_> Ah
<Sho_> k
<Sho_> the video previews thing is unfixable?
<Sho_> then we should maybe hide the buttons?
<zzag> no, it was broken by https://github.com/KDE/kwin/commit/787c39cd420ac1af856765ed18f01271ece045db
<Sho_> Let's fix it before the release tag then? :)
<zzag> Sho_: Yep, probably we have to. :)
<Sho_> ok, ping anyone you need for review if it gets urgent
<Sho_> my turn: I don't have access to my notes file, so I had to type from memory, which is baf
<Sho_> *bad
<Sho_> Folder View release wrapup:
<Sho_> * Finished and merged patch for the "icons sometimes scrambled at boot" issue
<Sho_> * Finished and merged fix for the "new items sometimes get duplicated" issue
<Sho_> * Helped merge a patch for a DND position validation issue
<Sho_> i also did some other patch but can't remember, I will add it to the notes later
<Sho_> last topic: 5.14 release
<Sho_> apparently we should make one, albeit originally unplanned
<Sho_> as it will allow Debian to ship a working Discover and the FV fixes in Stable
<Sho_> but aiui, Discover isn't actually fixed yet
<Sho_> and David told me he needs to review any patch
<Sho_> does anyone know the situation so we can schedule?
<Riddell> I'm next to david
<Sho_> leinir?
<Riddell> He says cool
<Sho_> bshah said he had apol next to him, too
<bshah> yus
<eagle> could anyone point me please to the bug report regarding desktop icons not being remembered after login?
<Sho_> eagle: we're in the middle of a meeting, mind waiting a bit? (or is this connected to the meeting?)
<leinir> Sho_: We do have a patch, but it isn't quite complete
<Riddell> David can do releases for bits that need it later
<eagle> it isn't
<eagle> didn't know this channel is semi-private
<Sho_> eagle: it's not
<bshah> eagle: it is not semi-private channel, just it is our weekly public meeting :)
<bshah> your question is "bit" offtopic duriing that time :)
<leinir> In short: We need two patches, one which simply reverts a commit, and one which causes certain backends to be disabled after a timeout (which will render some things less functional on very slow connections, but will at least make Discover not entirely broken for those users)
<Sho_> aye, so i'd say make sure David is on those reviews, then he will know when he can release
<Sho_> FV is ready
<Riddell> David says cool cool
<Sho_> that's it for the meeting then :) will send notes after dinner
<Sho_> thanks everyone
<Sho_> eagle: by desktop icons not rememered you mean positions?
<eagle> yes
<eagle> oops, thought I woudl have mentioned that
<Sho_> eagle: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354802
<sKreamer> KDE bug 354802 in plasmashell (Folder) "Desktop Icon position gets scrambled sometimes on reboot." [normal,FIXED] https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354802
<eagle> thx
<leinir> Right, will get that under way momentarily - i don't expect the second patch to be a huge amount of work, and of course the former is a revert (which incidentally has been tested by three users with the bug, who report it as worked-around with that commit reverted)
<Sho_> yw
<Sho_> leinir: aye, cool
*** Joins: asturm (~andreas@gentoo/developer/asturm)

<Sho_> safe travels
