Have been in discussion about backporting a bug fix - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356479 to 5.8.
The only documentation I could find on backport policy was https://community.kde.org/Policies/Commit_Policy#Backport_bugfixes - which is roughly as the URI implies: "backport bugfixes." This particular bugfix is of medium complexity, reasonable importance and has now been in master for quite some time, so I'd consider it a safe candidate, but, would like to ask: 1) For some consensus before backporting this particular fix, and; 2) If the backport policy - natural grey area or no - should be somewhat expanded on.
