I would really prefer multiple widgets with few options each, but the code
sharing issue is a valid point
I agree with Marco: The idea behind the alternatives switching was to
make it as easy and discoverable as possible to switch between different
solutions for the same purpose, so that would be preferred over config
options (at least from the user experience perspective).
