Take a step back and imagine you wouldn't know that these "thingies" are called Plasmoid. E.g. your a developer who wants to provide an "app" for Plasma Active. What would sound more logical to you? Applet or Plasmoid? I assume everybody can understand what an applet is supposed to be and knows them from other areas, too. But Plasmoid... Cheers Martin
