The easy solution is, upgrade to/install Kubuntu 13.10 (recommended). From

Isn't there anything else that can be done with the current O.S ? I don't
have the ISO image and then installation will take even longer. Even an
upgrade will take a long while and #CorrectMeIfWrong , isn't it better to
use LTS versions instead of latest releases .

Using sudo in this case is alright isn't it ? It does show "Permission
denied" .
