dbusmenu has nothing to do with systemtrays.
we do have a post-x systemtray and is StatusNotifier, the one that ubuntu uses 
as well. (so some gtk apps supports it upstream, some have patches on ubuntu 
side)
and yes, it has been discussed on freedesktop literally to death, years ago.
