separate email for a separate topic: frameworks and the workspace definition. :) Solid is not part of the workspace. neither is libplasma. they are frameworks that can and are used by applications that are not part of the workspace and function outside of our workspace environments just fine. plasma-desktop, krunner, kwin, plasma networkmanager, kmix, bluedevil etc etc are (or could be) part of the workspace. they are application and use both of these frameworks. libplasmagenericshell, libplasmaclock, libkworkspace, libtaskmanager .. these are all parts of the workspace as well, though they are essentially implementation details. unlike Solid or libplasma, they do not make sense outside of the plasma workspace and are exclusively designed for and used by workspace components. -- Aaron J.
