for the record for everyone else, we talked on irc and apparently Solid does it better and the fdo thing is quite broken. (this applies only to DPMS off, not screensaver on yet--since solid doesn't yet have an api for that). so i'll fix that shortly to not use the dbus fdo call, rather Solid for the DPMS off. for the time being, i'll have to leave the screensaver dbus call in, until the solid gets some api for it.
