Well, I don't agree. The dialog shows an autogenerated list of desktop-files.
What the user will now do is to compare the application names. The computer
can do that, too. If it currently doesn't, that needs to be fixed instead of
passing on the work to the user. The dialog might be a acceptable workarround
for the time beeing, though.

Totally 100% agree. However, there is not always a 100% match from windowClass/windowName/commandline match to a desktop file. In these circumstances, the dialog is used. And it should only be used as a last resort.
