Which launcher are you testing with? The default one, kickoff? If so, then the code is in kde-workspace/plasma/desktop/applets/kickoff and the relevant code is probably under core/applicationmodel.[h|cpp] Patches are quite welcome and we're happy to answer questions as they come up.
