Interesting, I'll have a look. Kind of like the NetworkManger plasmoid pop-up I guess? But surely we'll still need the old pop-up on hover over the clock itself, or will people always need to pop up the calendar first? Will that change days on hover or on click? Will that work on space constrained devices (mobile, netbook)? How's that going to look popping up from the panel clock in the bottom right corner (The gnome screenshot I just found looks a little unbalanced)? Could the events list code be shared with a standalone plasmoid as well? There's a wish (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=186913) to show the temperature in the clock which I didn't include as it's the wrong place, but having a side panel like that would have the room for a weather icon and summary at the top, like all those weather/calendar home screen widgets you see on Android. A thought anyway. Hmmm, I must find time to prototype my zoomable calendar idea for mobile devices, shamelessly stolen from Win7 and put on steroids :-) > KAlarm is in kdepim and is an application; not sure it makes sense to > integrate with KAlarm itself. if the data is kept in akonadi, then it could > be put there? my concern, however, would be that if there is no GUI > provided for the alarms (e.g. due to not having kdepim installed), then we > end up with a feature that is useless. some thought should be put into > making alarm notifications a desktop service perhaps that we can rely on > being there. Yes, KAlarm is being Akonadified in kdepim 4.6, so at least displaying them will be easy that way, not sure about adding but I assume so. I'll make it clear it should be added to the calendar or akonadi data engine. KAlarm also has a dbus interface for adding alarms which pops up KAlarm's add dialog, so that might be another option. I wonder how standalone kalarmd is from the rest of kdepim? I'll be at the kdepim sprint next weekend, so I can always ask djarvie then. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=181065 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195017 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199991 > -1; what is the use case for this? unlike with the date, where it is a > matter of how much information is shown versus how much space it takes up, > there is no such issue with the time. all this would mean is bloating the > config UI, add more (if trivial in this case) code paths and provide one > more place that the user needs to go fiddle with things. please, no. There's wish for it at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=210613. If it's not something we want we can close that. > > * Apply font to date & timezone text as well? > > if it isn't, it should be. It doesn't. Hmmm, I wonder though with some fonts if that's a good thing or not, if you use a classic segmented lcd font it looks great with the clock numbers, but not sure for date/tz text. Well, someone can try anyway. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193472 > > * Improve text auto-layout code, there's many bugs reported. > > listing BR#s on the page would nice .. Done, I've listed 17 layout related bugs which would need further triaging to see if still valid. The maximum possible size especially seems to be wrongly calculated, and possibly vertical panels as well. Some other wishes that we could respond to or close with "No": * Blinking dots on clock https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=162828 * Display timezone above time and date below https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=184179 * Remove clock border https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=186692 * Resize calendar to show multiple months https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193747 * Add optional date to analogue clock https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199999 * Ability to turn off calendar week numbers https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=224344 * Close button on calendar pop-up https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=255344 Cheers!
