then we just get icons that don't show any useful status. kmail and
akregator ought to be adjusted to provide useful information in a less
 information intensive fashion.

keyboard status remains an interesting issue. having it as a plasmoid would
be so much nicer in so many ways. but we have the issue of really wanting it
 always available, but only always available when the service is there.

sounds like an interesting use case we don't allow for currently in
 plasma-desktop (and which may be of interest as well to plasma mobile?)
