One way to do that could be, we could have a prompt for the user asking whether they would like to switch to night mode now, or change to night mode after x minutes, or ask again in y minutes, or don't change.

But yeah, switching color schemes is pretty slow, heavy, and not very visually pleasing while it's in process, and might be a stark interruption when done suddenly. Cheers Kai Uwe
