Actually, I think users should not even have to deal with resolution anymore as nowadays most monitors are LCDs and have a native resolution that shouldn't have to be changed. What you want to change is the zoom factor. In several DEs, this can be achieved by adjusting the DPI settings (I don't know if it works in KDE4). There are two issues with that: first the setting is not usually easy to find, and second (but not very important), DPI are not, in my opinion, a good measure, because in the end the size at which a font is readable depends both on the number of pixels and on the distance you are from the monitor. Should be DPA: Dot Per Arcminute ;-) What would be great would be to be able to adjust the "zoom factor" easily, like with a slider and the effect are visible in realtime. Bonus points for being able to do that for individual windows, or per monitor: in my case I have a quite high-DPI monitor (1920x1200, 15.4") which is usually further away from my eyes than my lower-DPI 22", 1680x1050 monitor. Thus everything on that first monitor looks minuscule. g > > There are monitors out there with resolutions as high as 2560x1600 and I am > sure these numbers will keep growing.
