Very often evolution crashes on startup -- this happens to me since
2.6.3-1 entered testing. I'm sure that the problem is in the mail
component and namely, the vfolders. I have several vfolders, but they
scan all my local mail, which includes hundreds of directories and
subdirectories. Typically, it takes about 10 minutes to scan
everything on a fairly powerful machine (Pentium IV 3 GHz). Today, I
cannot start it already 3 hours (tried hundreds of times) and I
managed to get a backtrace. It is different every time, i.e. on every
crash at frame #1 it shows another dir.
I solved the problem by removing entirely ~/.evolution/mail/vfolder.
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
