I really can't reproduce this. I'm on Debian Lenny, with evolution, and tried to: - Edit → Preferences - Edit account - Close account - Close preferences - Quit Evolution nothing happens. I tried too to: - Edit → Prefernces - Edit account - Quit Evolution and nothing either. Is there something wrong on your setup? Could you test with a fresh user, just in case?
