Correct, but "would" -> "should". the question is how the load balancer knows
how to do that.

A session is determined by the combination of IP-address, port and session ID.
Assuming that all machines appear under the same external IP address, the load
banlancer must know about this, and keep track of the session IDs to pick the
right machine.
