Yes I know that. It returns a number. Meanwhile I found out that 11 (what is returned in my case) means that I have to try again, something like a temporary unavailable resource. It is weird that the same program on the command line returns a string to stdout without a problem. When I used it from PHP then I get the errorno 11. Most likely it is a problem with the program, not PHP or anything else, don't you agree? Unfortunately it is not my program, I am obliged to use it, so I'm kind of stuck.
