linux is a many splendored thing. On mine, I go about it exactly the same way as I did on SCO OpenServer, UnixWare and Solaris when I used to compile and install my own Open source software on them. Or I just install over the top of what I had. But that's the easy way. Perhaps you use rpms or apt-gets or suchlike, who can tell?.
