PHP might not be very stable with apache 7... :)

What version of PHP are you using? Try using the variable
$_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_USER'] or $HTTP_SERVER_VARS['PHP_AUTH_USER']. If it's not
in _SERVER, someone please correct me.
