I'd start out by using ab, the apache benchmarker. Look for $APACHE_PATH/bin/ab. You can start hammering away at the site by setting the number of connections to try, conncurrent connections, etc. in ab, which will spit out a bunch of interesting stats, like the number or errors produced, pages served per second, etc.
