What about

$i = 0; // set the start (or use for())
while ($i<$loopcounter) {
>       $temp = "size". $i;             // $temp = 'size1', 'size2'...
        $valueofsize = $$temp;
        $i++;   # untested code, should be OK though
} 

No messing around with evals neccessary.
