Well, maybe the code is all on one line! I remember another time when I was getting all the errors being on one line when validating SGML documents. It turned out that the problem was that they had been created on a Mac, and the validator was getting confused by only only having Ctrl-M for a line break instead of Ctrl-J or Ctrl-M,Ctrl-J.
