I think it defaults to whatever you last used, not to a specific choice. I also *think* that MS actually invented CSV, as I recall... Probably, since the mess of comma, quotes to escape commas, and double-quotes to escape the quotes not escaping the commas, is typical of the wooly-brained MS "design" (sic) -- Some people have a "gift" link here.
